Gateway has 18 Ster Kinekor movie theatres, including the popular IMAX theatre, 6 Nouveau Cinemas, a playhouse called the Barnyard Theatre! You can expect to see all the latest feature films at the cinemas, while the Nouveau Cinemas boast classic favorites. The IMAX theatre is a must see! IMAX is the ultimate movie experience. THE ROCK @ Gateway
The Rock at Gateway is one of the leading climbing facilities in the world. At 22.5m (8 stories) high, it is the planet's highest free-standing indoor climbing wall! The Rock's 300 Square meters of surface area, currently has 25 climbing routes which range from 'dead-easy' to 'near impossible', catering for everyone from beginners to hard-core rock climbers. If you fancy a little fun in the sun and enjoy getting wet, then the Wave House is definitely for you! The Wave House at Gateway features the biggest double stationary wave in the world and guarantees an adrenalin rush second to none. It also offers smaller version practice waves to introduce you to the incredible sport of flow boarding, before you move on to the big one.
If theses adrenaline activities are not for you, then why not explore the wonders of science at the Science-Centre? The Old Mutual MTN Science Centre is a world class science discovery experience that brings science and technology to life, for both children and adults alike. The Science Centre entertains while it educates, with over 200 magical interactive science and technology displays. Gateway also offers a wonderful amusement theme park called the Fantasy forest, with a range of exciting activities, arcade games, tenpin bowling, a huge adventure golf course, and bumper cars! Spend a little time at The Umhlanga Lighthouse: The Lighthouse was completed in 1954 and has since become a landmark attracting thousands of people yearly. The looming tower stands 21m high and has a focal plane height of 25m.
