When it comes to Durban’s main beaches you have a choice of over 15 kilometers of golden sand and sunshine to enjoy. The Golden Mile starts at Durban SunCoast Casino and ends at the very stunning uShaka Marine world. The stunning beaches and glorious sunshine encourages businessmen to jog during their lunch hour or even catch a wave or two.
The whole city is basically just a life support system for this very laid back beach culture. This sun and surf culture is ideal for both young and old, even the young at heart are welcome to sit back and relax, while enjoy this balmy pleasures of this ocean paradise.

Durban’s South beach includes two yacht clubs and one very large commercial harbor. In fact there are a good many restaurants available where you can sit back and relax while enjoying some really good food as you watch tankers and ocean liners enter the harbor itself.

What makes these beaches special? These remarkable beaches, run from Addington Beach to Vetchies Beach, have soft sand and gentle waves, which are ideal for paddling, swimming, boogey board and even surfing. In addition there are a couple of paddling pools where kids can splash around to their heart’s content. These pools include slides and water features, which are bound to appeal to kids of all ages.

As you step off the sand there is a fun park, which will definitely bring kids pleasure. There are formal and informal traders selling the most stunning traditional beadwork and basketry, at really rock bottom prices. There is also a whole lot of hotels right on the beach, which will cater to all of your accommodation requirements.

Within easy walking distance is the very fascinating Indian Market. You can take a leisurely stroll through all of the mysteries that they have to offer. This includes amazing spices, exotic eats and a couple of special items, which are yours to discover as you browse.

A little further North, between Bay of Plenty and Dairy Beach, you will come across North beach which is well known for its sand castle building competitions and surfing events. This rocking and lively beach is also known for its summer celebrations of sun and sand. They host competitions and live events to keep you busy the whole summer long.

This stunning beach is situated between two long piers, which draw anglers second to none. Another stunning event which has become an annual drawcard is the Durban Beach Africa Festival. This festival goes hand in hand with the Mr Price Pro surfing event.

All hotels, restaurants, markets and shops are within walking distance or you can simply hop on one of the shuttles which run up and down the beach front on a regular basis. There is no better way to enjoy Durban than to part take in its incredible beach culture.
